Nonprofit Volunteer Program of the Year recognizes a not for profit organization that exemplifies exceptional volunteer management practices.
2007 Winner
Volunteers of America, Utah Volunteers of America, Utah insists on doing more than is required…and more than what has been asked. The VOA’s 224 volunteers have given more than 2200 hours of service in the past year to the Salt Lake County Adult Detox Center, the Center for Women and Children, Day Treatment and Housing Programs, the Homeless Outreach program, the Homeless Youth Resource Center, and the Red Rocks Reader programs. The organization is dedicated to helping those who need it most, excluding no one and uplifting all.

UTAH SOUTHERN BAPTIST DISASTER RELIEF
UISBC disaster Relief is part of the third largest volunteer disaster relief organization in America behind the Red Cross and The Salvation Army. Started in October 2002, it has grown to over 437 trained volunteers that respond not only in Utah and America but World wide. They have acquired a well equipped fleet of mobile equipment which enables them to respond to a variety of disaster situations. In January 2005, their mobile kitchen was activated by the Red Cross to go to St George Utah to feed victims and volunteers during the flooding. They prepared 5500 meals and completed 33 med-out jobs of flooded homes in Utah, Arizona and Nevada. In February thru Aug 2005, UISBC Disaster Relief sent two medical teams and one construction team to the tsunami stricken area of Indonesia and Thailand. September 1, 2005 the feeding unit team was activated by the Red Cross to fee the evacuees and volunteers at Camp Williams following Hurricane Katrina and Rita. volunteer teams were continuously on site until December 23. On January 4, thru April 15, 2006, teams were sent to New Orleans providing 17 million hot meals to victims and volunteers. 27,000 jobs of debris removal, mud-out and emergency building repair were completed. And, 156,000 showers were provided by their mobile shower units to victims and volunteers. UISBD Relief was voted Utah Emergency Managers Association (UEMA) 2006 Partner of the Year.
